Nashville (WSMV)-Following busy weekend shopping from Black Friday to Saturday for small businesses, more shopping is expected to begin the week at the beginning of Cyber Monday.
Cyber Monday began in 2005 after more online shopping from work computers as people returned to work after Thanksgiving holidays.
Like Black Friday, Cyber Monday is expected to spread over several days. In fact, according to the National Retail Federation, from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday, nearly two million more people will be shopping than last year.
They also predict that shoppers will spend an average of about $ 1,000 during the holiday season.
One of the biggest e-commerce sites out there, Amazon prepares for more cyber Monday traffic than usual.
“Black Friday and Cyber Monday have always been big days for Amazon,” said Amazon spokeswoman Cat Scarpa. “So I think this year will be even bigger and better.”
Some retail experts predict that the number of shoppers today will be high, while others say that recent supply chain and shipping issues encourage in-store shopping.
