The History Theater in St. Paul is streaming an over-reading of the musical’s first act in progress about former Minnesota Governor Harold Stassen.

The Boy Wonder: Stassen Musical, which includes Keith Hovis’ books, music and lyrics, will be available on the St. Paul Theater website at historytheatre.com until November 5. Stassen was called Boy Wonder and was called the future of the Republican Party. He was elected governor in 1938 at the age of 31. By 1992, Stassen’s political career ended as a lost long-time candidate, seeking nine bids for the Republican presidential nomination.

The History Theater will be working on Act 2 this spring. “Boy Wonder” is part of the low stage, a new festival at the History Theater. For tickets to the theater’s “Spilling the HT” feature and conversations about musicals, visit historytheatre.com.
