Multiple suspected tornadoes leave a trail of damage across the Midwest

A severe storm front swept through the Midwest on Thursday, spawning multiple areas of suspected tornadoes in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky, damaging homes and knocking out power to thousands, authorities said.

According to Indiana State Police, damage was reported in the city of Winchester in east-central Indiana, but it was unclear whether there were any deaths or injuries.

Meteorologist Joseph Nield of the National Weather Service in Indianapolis said the tornado likely caused significant damage in the Winchester area, based on radar data and reports from storm watchers and local officials.
