Las Vegas (KTNV) —Around 11:16 pm Wednesday, a vehicle crashed into a pedestrian and began running from a crash that occurred on East Sahara Avenue, east of Chapman Drive.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police have obtained evidence from the scene and witness statements that the new 4-door sedan was moving east on Sahara Avenue. There were pedestrians on the road outside the pedestrian crossing. A collision occurred when a pedestrian entered the vehicle’s path and collided with the front of the vehicle. Pedestrians were sticking forward and to the ground. Vehicles involved in the collision did not stay at the scene, but were finally seen traveling east on Sahara Avenue.
According to LVMPD, pedestrians suffered life-threatening injuries and were taken by ambulance to the Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. Despite all life-saving measures, the pedestrian succumbed to his injury and was declared dead at Sunrise Hospital by medical staff.
Pedestrian death marks the 75th traffic-related death in the jurisdiction of the Las Vegas Metro Police Department in 2022. This collision remains under investigation by the collision investigation section of LVMPD.
