Delta Variant and Other Common Disease Epidemics-As the COVID-19 Delta Variant becomes epidemic, the New Mexico Department of Health recommends that people be tested again. Health officials say they saw cases jump from 25% to 80% in just one month. About a month ago, people were celebrating the complete reopening of the state by removing masks and removing capacity restrictions. Approximately 20 cases of viruses such as RSV and influenza were reported to Tricore Labs in a particular week of last month across the state. Authorities say that in a normal year, that number is zero in July.
APS continues to face a shortage of teachers and staff. Working to Fill Jobs-Companies throughout the state struggle to hire enough employees, including school districts. In June, 370 open teacher positions expanded from middle school to high school at Albakirk Public School. APS spokesman Monica Armenta says the numbers are in flux as some work is being filled. Currently, there is a shortage of employees, managers and bus drivers in the food service industry.
