Fresno, California 2021-09-20 16:10:51 –

Merced, Calif. (KFSN)-Firefighters believe that the Honey Oil Lab caused an explosion on Monday morning, burning Merced’s home in flames.

The crew answered a 911 call from near Korma Avenue and Wildcat Drive by 8:30 am.

Fire officials said they faced several challenges during the fire extinguishing campaign and had difficulty accessing their homes due to the collapse of walls and debris.

The explosion caused the garage door to fly down the street. A video shared with Action News showed a large flame consuming a house as dark clouds of smoke swirl in the air.

“I just took out my phone and recorded the fire, but then it started to explode further, creating more” booms! ” And I retreated. “

Firefighters had to work to prevent the fire from spreading to other homes in the neighborhood. It took about 45 minutes to contain the flame.

Bystanders helped treat those who were burned in the flames until the arrival of rescue workers. Victims were airlifted to a local hospital for treatment.

The house was completely destroyed. Five other homes were damaged.

Merced police are currently investigating to identify who runs the Honey Oil Lab.
