Five swimmers suffering from China Walls were rescued by guards within two hours today.
Honolulu Ocean Safety reported that rescue was part of two separate cases, the first case occurring shortly after 1:15 pm and the second case occurring at 2:30 pm.
In the first case, a group of six “everyone was in danger near the rocky coastline.” Half of the group was able to leave the situation, but three unidentified men who were part of the group were crushed by the waves into rocks and could not leave themselves.
A jet ski guard found a swimmer in the water and took him to the shore. A Honolulu emergency medical service was on site to evaluate one of the patients and then refused further treatment.
At 2:30 pm, a patrol of guards rescued two more suffering swimmers on Chinawall and took them to the shore.
The Honolulu Emergency Services Department advised the public to know their limits before entering the water and to walk to others before entering a strange area.
