Just before 5 pm on Saturday, I received a 911 call to a kayak off the Mokulua Islands. According to Ocean Safety, the kayak capsized underwater and everyone wore life jackets.
Lifeguards safely carried three kayaks to the shores of Ranikai on a jet ski.
About 20 minutes later, at 5:18 pm, Ocean Safety rescued a woman doing stand-up paddleboarding about 800 yards from Yokohama Bay. Ocean Safety says the woman was unable to return on her own due to strong winds and was steadily moving away from the shore.
Lifeguards responded from their tower and were able to safely return the woman and her board to the beach.
