How to Watch Blue Origin Launch: Jeff Bezos riding own rocket on company’s 1st flight with people – Fresno, California

Fresno, California 2021-07-20 05:17:46 –

Banhorn, Texas-Jeff Bezos is about to soar with people on its first flight with a space travel agency.

Blue Origin Launch will start at 8:30 am EST / 7:30 am PST / 5:30 am PST and can be viewed here and in the streaming app. Lift-off is scheduled for 9am Eastern Standard Time.

The founder of Blue Origin and Amazon on Tuesday will be the second millionaire to ride his own rocket. He will be launched from West Texas with his brother, an 18-year-old from the Netherlands and an 82-year-old female aviation pioneer from Texas.

Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket will celebrate the 52nd anniversary of Apollo 11’s landing on the moon and will explode with various groups of passengers.

Bezos is aiming for an altitude of about 66 miles (106 kilometers), which is more than 10 miles (16 kilometers) higher than Richard Branson’s ride on July 11.

The capsules are fully automated, eliminating the need for trained staff to fly up and down quickly. The journey takes only 10 minutes. Two pilots are required to operate Branson’s Virgin Galactic rocket-powered aircraft.

Bezos’ dream come true journey has been followed by 15 successful test flights into space with the New Shepard rocket since 2015, all of which are vacant. If successful, Blue Origin plans two more passenger flights by the end of the year.

The company hasn’t released ticket sales to the public yet, filling the next flight with people who participated in the $ 28 million charity auction of the fourth capsule sheet last month. The mystery winner declined the launch on Tuesday due to schedule conflicts. It opened a slot for Oliver Damen, a college student from the Netherlands whose father was among the unsuccessful bidders.

Also in flight: Bezos’ brother Mark and Wally Funk, one of 13 female pilots who took the same test as NASA’s Mercury astronaut in the early 1960s, failed to cut because they were female. ..

Not everyone in the remote desert town of Van Horn is excited about the drama that unfolds 25 miles (40 km) north.

“It’s a luxury set aside for the wealthy,” said pizzeria owner Jesus Ramirez. He was planning to watch the morning launch from the restaurant patio over a cup of coffee.
