RIO LINDA (CBS13) – Despite the new curfew, hundreds of people were involved in a camera party so that there was no pandemic in Rio Linda’s gated house on Saturday night.
Neighbors saw, heard, and complained about the big event last night.
Neighbors said cars were packed on both sides of the road, a lot of music was played, and a lot of garbage remained.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said it received 14 individual calls between 8:15 pm and 10:45 pm regarding the party that took place on 20th Avenue on Elkhorn Boulevard.
A spokesman for the sheriff’s office said the party had ended on its own as lawmakers arrived at the scene around 11:00 pm.
Saturday night was the first official night of Governor Gavin Newsom’s month-long curfew in the Purple Layer county. A curfew means that you cannot continue to hold or open meetings or non-essential businesses between 10 pm and 5 am.

Randy Ekman, who lives at the end of the block, said this wasn’t the first time this had happened. She said another party happened a few weeks ago. Ekman said it was reckless for this kind of event to occur during a pandemic.
“There were hundreds of people there, and when I drove the last one, few were wearing masks,” Ekman said. “If we want to overcome this pandemic faster, we need to start the lockdown and do what is expected.”
