Lexington, Kentucky (LEX 18) — If you have postponed the purchase of ice melt or other snow preparation items, hurry up.
Lexington hardware store owners said Friday that snowstorm essentials were starting to sell out after last winter’s weather.
Last week’s storm snowed nearly 10 inches in Lexington and other parts of central Kentucky, but it turned out that people weren’t in a hurry to get everything they needed.
“People seemed too late last week,” said Lisa Justice, owner of Chevy Chase hardware. “It was already snowing before people melted the ice and got the sled. We were out of the sled.”
Voter turnout at the store on Friday may indicate how many people were waiting for the item until the very end of last week.
“Today we were very busy making sure people melted the shovel and the ice,” Justice said.
Another quick cellar — sled.
“We didn’t expect it, but about an hour ago we received 30 sleds on the truck and almost all were gone,” Justice said.
They received the cargo early on Friday afternoon. If you’re worried that you won’t have one this weekend, don’t.
“My husband, who owns a store with me, drove to Pennsylvania to a warehouse that normally doesn’t serve us to get more sleds,” she said. .. “He’s actually coming back with 1200 sleds tonight.”
If you don’t have the items you need, don’t postpone getting them.
“Don’t forget the ice melts this year, we’re likely to run out of sleds this season, so we’ll shovel before we run out of stock,” said Will Edwards of Chevy Chase Hardware. ..
Drivers are also advised to bring an emergency kit with food, water, snow brushes, ice scrapers and a telephone charger.
