Colorado — A flash flood warning in the grizzly leak burn area closes Glenwood Canyon’s I-70.
All traffic closures are at Exit 133 (Dossello), Exit 116 (Glenwood Springs), Exit 109 (Canyon Creek) and Exit 87 (West Rifle). The closure of the I-70 will remain in place through a warning, after which the crew will check to see if the canyon can be safely reopened.
At this time, the flash flood warning is scheduled to end at 10:30.
Eastbound traffic to the roaring Folk Valley may have restricted access at Exit 109 or US 6, but you should plan a delay of the first hour of closure.
CDOT requires drivers to use the recommended northern alternative route when bypassing closures. Drivers westward from the Denver Metro area must take Exit 205 (Silverthorne) on I-70 and travel north on Colorado Highway 9 towards Kremmling. Travelers travel west on US Highway 40, then south on CO 13, complete the alternative route, and take the rifle (exit 90) back to I-70 to the west.Eastbound travelers can detour using the same route in reverse
All updates will continue to be posted cotrip.org, You can use it by dialing 511 on the CDOT Twitter page.
