Las Vegas (KLAS) — Police identified a man who threatened to rape and kill a woman in a case captured in a Ring Doorbell video last week.
The quarrel took place last Wednesday night on South 6th Street near Charleston and Las Vegas Boulevard, while the woman behind the door was at home alone.
Arrest reports obtained by Team I identify the man as Christopher Sambus, 40.
In a video of the ring, police said they could hear Sambus repeatedly asking. Are you positive? I have a few questions. The woman said she didn’t respond to the man, hid in the house and called 911. The husband, who was not at home, accessed the intercom system and asked the man who he was.
Sumbs said, “I’m looking for a girl at home. I’m going to rape her and kill her. Can you open the door for her?” Then he has a knife and a gun. Added.
Police said they were called to the neighborhood the next day to report a suspicious person. The city’s marshal had stopped a man who matched one of the explanations in the video, police said in an arrest report.
Police said Sambus did not reveal his identity to the police at the time and called himself the “Holy Spirit.”
According to police, Sambus may have first seen a recorded woman talking in a video through a kitchen window, he wrote in an arrest report. She told police that Sambus knocked on the door shortly after opening the window and passing by.
Police took Sambus to prison and tried to identify him, but at this point he only knew him as the “Holy Spirit.” Fingerprint scans returned with no results, they said. On Monday, police said they learned that Sambus was a fugitive from California.
Sumbs has been charged with exacerbating stalking, threatening armed forces, attempted robbery, and false statements to civil servants.
For the fugitive of his justice position, Sambus was held on Tuesday without bail.
