Elmore City, OklahomaKFOR) – Oklahoma teens are looking for ways to deal with their mother’s death just months after their father and sister died of COVID-19.
“I’m a little worried about going to college and taking her there like a simple question,” said Angelica Lara, wiping her tears.
Angelica’s mother died last Tuesday within nine months of her father’s and sister’s death.
“I don’t want to say I’m feeling lonely like all these people, but I do,” said a student at Elmore City High School.
According to Angelica’s family, her 18-year-old sister Liliana died on November 24, 2020, and Angelica’s father died a few weeks later on December 8. He had been fighting the virus for three weeks in the intensive care unit. ..
Angelica told KFOR that Liliana has a limited chance of surviving COVID-19 due to respiratory problems. The COVID-19 vaccine was not available at the time of their death.
“I wish I could say goodbye to my dad,” Angelica said. “That’s the only thing I really regret.”
Angelica’s aunt Amanda Barbantin is currently taking care of Angelica, who also has a 22-year-old brother.
“I told her … I have your back until I take my last breath and she told me to make sure it’s been a long time from now “Balvantin said.
Barbantin told KFOR that Angelica’s mother did not die of COVID, but she accused her of broken heart and lack of ICU beds.
“COVID didn’t take her, but if she could find a bed in the ICU, it definitely had an impact, as she could still be here,” Barbantin said. “I don’t know why, but we know we spent hours looking for an ICU bed.”
KFOR has made numerous attempts at Oklahoma Hospital to confirm family claims regarding ICU beds. Despite several phone calls and emails, KFOR did not receive a response.
The family told KFOR that Angelica and her mom became best friends after her dad and sister died.
“There are some things we have to experience and I don’t think we’re particularly close,” Angelica said.
Barbantin said Angelica and her family are now thinking about:
“She asked me the other day, she said,” Aunt Manny, who is going to take me to the aisle when I get married? “Balvantin said. “The kids aren’t thinking about it, but she has to think about it now.”
Elmore City High School was established Angelica senior rate bank account..
