ICU Projections Behind Decision To Lift Stay-At-Home Order In Sacramento Region – CBS Sacramento – Sacramento, California

Sacramento (CBS13) – On Tuesday, Governor Gavin Newsom said:Some stabilization is beginning to be seen in both the ICU and the positive rate. “
The governor calls it the “light at the end of the tunnel,” but there are record COVID-19 cases in Sacramento and Placer counties. The placer has only four ICU beds, but the ICU capacity in the Greater Sacramento area is still below the 15% threshold.
Dr. Rod Oldham, Director of Health and Welfare in Placer County, told the Supervisory Board on Tuesday.
“It’s no exaggeration to say that our ICU, in particular, is still stretched and we can’t be reassured right away,” said Dr. Oldam.
However, the state model shows relief with a “four-week forecast.” They look at current cases and past numbers of patients entering the ICU. The model shows that ICU cases in the Greater Sacramento region are steadily declining until February 12.
In contrast, the same model shows little change in the overwhelming hospitals of San Joaquin Valley, the Bay Area, and Southern California. Health officials want the forecasts for the Greater Sacramento area to be correct.
Jenny Tan of the Yolo County Health Department said: I think we know what will happen, and something else will happen. Certainly there is a level of anxiety, not a distrust, but an unknown level. “
