Broken Arrow, Oklahoma — A new Hispanic grocery store opened in Broken Arrow on Friday.

Supermercado Morelos is based in both Tulsa and Oklahoma City, but this opening marks a new step for this family-owned business. The store has nine locations, including this latest location near 81st Avenue and Aspen.

The first Super Mercado Morelos opened in Oklahoma City in 2003. Four years later, the first Tulsa location opened.

Mario Briseno is the store’s organizational development director. He said opening a ninth store in Broken Arrow would allow for a wider range.

“This is the first time we have the opportunity to go ahead and serve everyone, not just Hispanic or non-English speaking communities, but everyone else.”

Coming to America, the family said they never imagined they would go this far, and are now here.

“It’s a dream that comes true for my family, personally and for me. It was a blessing, I moved my entire family here, and they change our lives, especially Broken Arrows. Blessed us, Tulsa too. But I mean this is a very beautiful place, a beautiful community and a wonderful country. There is only a blessing to give you. ”

He said they chose Broken Arrow not only because of the growing Hispanic population, but also to meet the needs of everyone who lives there.

“We wanted to be able to serve everyone else and not hide from other communities. And so far, all the people who come through that door are wonderful, We have been kind, beautiful and welcoming, and all we can do is continue to bless them in the same spirit and provide the best we have, “said Briseno.

The grand opening is Saturday, December 4th.
