Kansas City, Missouri — A man was put in jail after an armed robbery in Independence and arrest at a motel in Clay County, Missouri, early Monday morning.

The incident began around 3:50 am, with two men, one armed with a rifle, requesting a cash register at the CVS store on South Noland Road 3825, Independence.

Police said the clerk fired at the pair and they fled.

Information about whether one of the men was shot by a clerk was not immediately available.

According to police, independent police officers chased after seeing the car speeding up from the store.
