Parliamentarian (MP) Bhola Singh yesterday released a report from the Standing Committee on the functioning of NIFT in the House of Representatives (Lok Sabha). The committee is chaired by Parliamentarian Bhartruhari Mahtab.
The report urged NIFT to leverage and expand its courses and programs in line with global standards in order to meet the high expectations of the country and further rise in the global fashion map.
The Commission said it would encourage more entrepreneurs and strengthen job creation in the fashion sector.
However, despite some communications from the ministry to the University Grants Commission, he expressed concern that his NIFT degree was not approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The report added that the same was not done with the plea of invalidating it to the extent not provided for in Article 22 of the 1956 UGC Act.
