New Delhi — Top experts warn that the next few weeks in India will be “terrifying” as COVID-19 infections and deaths increase at an alarming rate and the crisis is endless.

In a country of nearly 1.4 billion people, people have died outside an overwhelming hospital and have witnessed a funeral fire illuminating the night sky.

The official number of cases of coronavirus in India has exceeded 20 million, almost doubled in the last three months, and the number of deaths has officially exceeded 220,000. However, the actual numbers are believed to be much higher, underestimating the overt symptoms of health care problems.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the country is currently in the midst of a horrific outbreak of viruses. At least 300,000 cases continue daily for nearly two weeks. Between April 1st and Monday, the average number of newly identified cases per day surged from more than 65,000 to about 370,000.

For about a week, more than 3,000 people die from the virus every day in the country. This number may be stable for several weeks, as the increase in deaths usually lags behind the increase in case numbers. At the beginning of April, about 300 people died a day in India.

Associated Press The country reports that it is currently facing a shortage of oxygen, beds and COVID-19 testing.
