INEOS & Edge in Germany is developing armourEdge protection for wind farms

Styrene leader INEOS Styrolution and wind energy generation optimization innovator Edge Solutions have developed armour Edge protection for wind turbine blades based on a customized version of INEO Styrolution’s Luran SC material. Based in Germany, INEOS focuses on styrene monomer, polystyrene, ABS standards, and styrene specialties.

“State-of-the-art erosion” is a serious problem for large commercial wind turbine blades. This is caused by environmental impacts such as rain, hail, ice, salt and UV light.
