There is no doubt that the pandemic has changed our lives in many ways. One of them includes the kitchen. A growing trend across the United States is home cooking, and people are turning to all resources to teach them how to do it.

One YouTube cooking page Welcome to Neilville.. So where is Neilville? Well, it’s the kitchen of Jay Wanna Neil and her two sons stealing the scene.

“We have two chefs together,” Jay Wanna said in a video. “We have Maliki. We have Christopher.”

Last year, Jay Wanna launched a how-to cooking YouTube channel. It comes with all the good stuff.

“There are lasagna, spaghetti, pies and cakes,” she said. “One of the most popular on this channel is my banana pudding.”

Above all, Jay Wanna’s rule is her motto.

“It’s your kitchen! Do what you want!” She smiled.

My husband, Jonathan, who is a family producer, is in charge of the music for the video. Jaywanna and the boy process the content. The team is working together to get the dinner table back.

“At the table you’ll find most of the things about your family,” said Jay Wanna. “Food helps bring you together.”

Jay Wanna isn’t the only one who feels that way. There are signs that many are moving away from microwave-baked frozen pizzas and becoming interested in learning how to cook.

Cookbook sales are up 42% from last year, according to market research firm The NPD Group. On top of that, this year’s bakeware sales have increased by 18% compared to 2019 before the pandemic. According to NPD’s subscription video track service, Netflix’s “British Bake Off Show” streaming ratings have increased by 10% over last year. The trends that started with the pandemic continue to grow.

“Everyone was at home because of a pandemic,” said Jay Wanna. “When people can’t go out, restaurants start closing early, and you have a family, they want to eat!”

Jay Wanna said the pandemic’s new interest in cooking has increased the number of followers on the how-to cooking channel.

“They think their mom is famous on YouTube!” She laughed at the boys.

More home cooking and a national move to family time are of great significance to Jay Wanna. Since the beginning of the pandemic, she has adopted both Christopher and Maliki from Youth Village and became their mother.

“That means everything to know that I was able to take my two little kids and take them to a family with love,” she said.

Lessons taught with love. It’s Neilville.
