The 2021 Indian Premier League was suspended due to concerns about domestic coronavirus levels.
The number of new coronavirus infections in India exceeded 20 million on Tuesday, with 357 and 229 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, putting additional strain on the already overwhelming health care system.
Three Australian cricketers (Adam Zampa, Kane Richardson and Andrew Tye) have already returned home short of the IPL season, and Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has taken a break to spend time with his family.
The regular season ends on May 23, with qualifying and eliminators before the final on May 30.
