Chicago (AP) — Rev. Jesse Jackson returned home after being hospitalized for a groundbreaking COVID-19 infection.
After the symptoms of COVID-19 subsided, Jackson was transferred to a rehabilitation center to assist in the management of Parkinson’s disease.
The 79-year-old revealed a fight against Parkinson’s disease in 2017.
Jackson briefly spoke with a reporter on Wednesday before leaving the downtown Chicago facility.
“Thanks to God for guiding me to walk on my own again,” Jackson said.
He and his wife, Jacqueline, were first hospitalized with COVID-19 a month ago. Jesse Jackson was vaccinated, but his wife was not vaccinated.
She needed oxygen and was temporarily in the intensive care unit before being released this month.
