Topeka, Kansas (AP) — A man imprisoned in a deadly Topeka shooting died after officials apparently described it as a heart attack.
The Topika Capital Journal reports that Marshall Stewart IV was 38 years old. He was sentenced to death Thursday at 5:35 pm after being taken from Shawnee County Prison to Topika Hospital.
Major Tim Phelps of the Shawnee County Correctional Bureau said the County Correctional Bureau and the Kansas Investigation Bureau are under investigation.
Stewart was arrested in June for a second murder and a felony with a gun in connection with the murder of 51-year-old Bradley Bellinder.
