New York (AP) — James Michael Tyler, an actor widely known for his repetitive role as a gunther in “Friends,” has died. He was 59 years old.
Tyler died of prostate cancer at his home in Los Angeles on Sunday, said his manager Toni Benson.
Tyler was first diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in 2018.
Tyler appeared as easily as “Just Shoot Me!” In the 1990s series. “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” before being cast as a background character in the second episode of “Friends” in 1994.
Over the years of the show, he has become the most frequently repeated guest performer in the series, playing Gunther, a Central Park worker who had a crush on Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel.
Aniston and other cast members expressed their condolences after hearing the news of Tyler’s death.
“Without you, my friends wouldn’t be the same. Thank you for the laughter you brought to the show and all of our lives. I miss #JamesMichaelTyler,” Aniston wrote. Instagram, With those clips from the Series Finale.
