Jan. 6 panel votes to hold former DOJ official in contempt – Tampa, Florida

Tampa, Florida 2021-12-01 20:33:03 –

Washington (AP) — The House Commission investigating the January 6 Capitol riots seeks to insult Jeffrey Clark, a former Justice Department employee who refused to answer the Commission’s questions. I voted 9-0.

“Mr. Clark leaves us no other choice,” said Chairman Bennie Thompson.

However, the Commission agreed to allow Clark to return for another attempt.

According to Thompson, the commission received a last-minute notice from Clark’s lawyer that he wanted to exercise his innocent rights.

Thompson believes Clark’s return attempt is “the last attempt to delay the selection committee’s proceedings,” but the panel said he agreed to try the interview again.

The House of Representatives needs to vote on whether to refer Clark to the Department of Justice for potential criminal charges. It is unknown when the vote will take place.
