Colorado Springs — Jepsy Kallungi was last seen in March 2019. More than two years after she was reported missing, her husband Dane Kallungi was arrested and charged with murder.
News5 has obtained Dane’s arrest affidavit. It claims that he strangled Jepsie and seriously injured him during an act of domestic violence. Investigators believe Dane decided to kill Jepsie after seeing him “suffering.” Documents state that the incident occurred in the apartment on March 20, 2019, around 10:30 pm.
According to records, police say Dane put Jepsie’s body in the trunk of his car and took his son to school before going to work the next morning. After work, police claim that Dane drove Jepsie’s body to a remote location in Teller County, where she was buried. No body of Jepsie was found.
Dane moved to California after Jepsie disappeared. On March 26, 2021, Dane had lunch with her ex-wife, Alain, according to arrest documents. The affidavit states that Dane made a short trip to Colorado Springs due to a family illness. It was reportedly when Dane told Alain that he had killed Jepsie.
Three days later, Alaine contacted the investigator and informed him of the conversation. With her consent, the detective arranged a recorded phone call to learn more about domestic violence between Dane and Jepsy from March 20, 2019.
The call was made on April 3, 2021. Investigators have listed some statements from the phone: including:
“I was literally trying to stop her from speaking out of her mouth for a moment, but I realized I had done it for over a second.”
“I seemed to have done some damage, I was surprised, and she seemed to be suffering.”
“Yes, that’s the part I’m still thinking about. That’s what you know by looking in her eyes.”
“Like she was already dead. It was only a matter of time and I didn’t want to see her suffer anymore, but I didn’t want to keep it going. She was on the floor. “
“I can’t believe I did it, and I don’t seem to have a way to do it, but I did it. So I drove to an area like Florissant .. On the back road, I found four different back roads, and when I found what I could do, I got off, found a spot, and dug as deep as possible. “
“I was digging until about 3 o’clock in the morning because it was muddy and difficult to dig in some places, so I started to be surprised. It’s already midnight …”
“She was in my trunk and after work I drove to Florissant and found a place, and just like I packed her … wait a minute … yeah, me Went to Florissant, and no, I like to say goodbye to her before I put her in there and tried to apologize millions of times. “
