Honolulu, Hawaii 2021-01-13 12:40:07 –

Jonathan Vegas tested positive for COVID-19 and withdrew from the Sony Open in Hawaii, the PGA Tour announced.

36-year-old Venezuela is the second PGA Tour player to withdraw from the tournament for this year’s positive test. Jim Harman tested positive before leaving for Hawaii for the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

Vegas played last at the Mayakoba Classic in December and ended in a draw in 20th place.

Las Vegas, who won the PGA Tour three times, is currently ranked 144th in the FedEx Cup.

The first alternative, Séamus Power, will compete at the Sony Open and replace Vegas. Vegas now needs to be self-quarantined under the CDC guidelines.
