Joe Biden chooses longtime adviser Ron Klain as White House chief of staff – Fresno, California

Fresno, California 2020-11-12 00:13:28 –

From San Francisco-Ron Klain, a longtime adviser to President-elect Joe Biden, has been elected White House Chief of Staff, ABC News confirmed Wednesday night.

In a statement Wednesday night, Biden praised his newly elected Chief of Staff, citing Klein’s “irreplaceable” efforts against the 2014 Ebola outbreak and the 2009 economic crisis.

“Ron saved the US economy from one of the worst recessions in history in 2009, and then overcame a difficult public health emergency in 2014, and over the years we have worked together. It was valuable to us, “said Mr. Biden.

Klein was Biden’s Chief of Staff during Barack Obama’s first term and was Vice President Al Gore’s Chief of Staff in the mid-1990s.

He also served as a key advisor to the Biden campaign.

“We are honored to be President-elect’s confidence and will do our best to lead a diverse and talented team at Biden Harris WH,” Klein said in a tweet on Wednesday night.

Klein’s choice underscores the efforts of the next Biden administration to react to the coronavirus from day one.

“His deep and diverse experience and ability to collaborate with people throughout the political spectrum are what the White House Chief of Staff needs to face this very moment of crisis and reconnect our country.” Biden said.

Klein called it “a lifetime honor” and was elected Chief of Staff.

“It is a lifetime honor to serve President Biden and I am humbled by his confidence,” Klein said in a statement. “We look forward to helping him and Vice President-elect form a diverse and talented team to work in the White House. We tackle the challenges of their ambitious change and our country. I’m trying to close the gap. “
