Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial updates: Actress rests case without calling ex-husband to stand – Fresno, California

Fresno, California 2022-05-24 11:44:07 –

Falls Church, Virginia-Actor Amber Heard rested her case on Tuesday in a civil proceeding between her and her ex-husband Johnny Depp, without calling Depp to the stand.

Hard’s lawyer initially suggested calling Depp a witness, but eventually opposed it.

Depp has filed a defamation complaint in the Fairfax County Circuit Court in December 2018. She describes herself as “a public figure representing domestic violence” in the Washington Post. His lawyer says he has defamed him in the article, even though his name was not mentioned.

Also on Tuesday, Judge Penny Azkarate dismissed Depp’s lawyer’s motion to revoke the $ 100 million counterclaim filed against Depp. The counterclaim alleges that Depp’s then-lawyer, Adam Waldman, defamed her hard when he called her allegations of abuse hoax.

Mr Azkarate said the criteria for revoking a claim before filing it with a jury trial are very high and that there is sufficient evidence to move it forward. She had already ruled that Depp could be held responsible for the statements made by his lawyer, in principle Depp’s team argues.

Depp denies that he hit Hard and says she was an abuser of the relationship. She heard about more than 12 separate examples of physical abuse she says she suffered from Depp’s hands.

The trial is currently in its sixth week.

Both Depp and Hard have already extensively testified to the details of their toxic relationship.
