Johnson Matthey Joins Euro Truck Fuel Cell Consortium | Automotive Industry News

Johnson Matthey has joined the new European consortium “IMMORTAL” to develop high performance fuel cell components for heavy trucks with a predicted life of at least 30,000 hours.

IMMORTAL is a € 3.8 million (US $ 4.5 million) three-year project supported by the European Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Venture (FCH 2 JU), which includes France’s CNRS and Johnson Matthey, Bosch, FPT Industrial and AVL. I will.

The project will provide performance and durability fuel cell powertrain management as a key achievement. Industry and academic partners will work together to advance the materials and components that have shown great promise in the recent European FCH 2JU project.

IMMORTAL’s four major industrial partners are key stakeholders in the European fuel cell supply, OEM and end-user chains, from MEA (Johnson Matthey) to stacks (Bosch, AVL), stacks and systems (Bosch). , FPT Industrial) to large long-distance truck (FPT Industrial) fuel cell powertrain.

“Developing a robust fuel cell powertrain solution for decarbonizing freight is critical to achieving Net Zero’s goals around the world,” said Joe God, Johnson Massy Fuel Cell Business MD. Stated.

The IMMORTAL project is funded by the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen 2 Consortium through Grant Agreement No 101006641.

The consortium is supported by the European Union’s Horizontal 2020 Research and Innovation Program Hydrogen Europe and Hydrogen Europe Research.
