Los Angeles (AP) —Friday’s California Court of Appeals disqualified the private judge Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt used in the divorce proceedings, giving Jolly a big victory.
The Second District Court of Appeals agreed with Jolly that Judge John Uderkirk did not fully disclose his business relationship with Pitt’s attorney.
This decision means that the custody dispute over the couple’s five minor children, who were nearing the end, could be redone from the beginning.
The judge has already determined that the pair has divorced, but has separated the issue of child custody.
Like many celebrity couples, Pitt and Jolly hired a private judge to enhance their privacy in the divorce process.
In May, Ouderkirk refused to hear evidence of what Jolie said was related to the safety of her children. Associated Press report.
Order Kirk refused to disqualify himself when Jolly asked him for filing last August, AP report..
