Judge confirms Smollett’s trial date and does not dismiss the proceedings – Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky

Chicago (AP) — A Chicago judge denied last effort to dismiss a criminal proceeding against actor Jussie Smollett.

Smoret has been accused of lying to police when two masked men reported attacking him in downtown Chicago in January 2019.

Smollett’s lawyer waived a $ 10,000 deposit to withdraw his charges in a deal with Cook County Prosecutor, alleging that his rights had been violated because he was already in service.

However, Judge James Lynn said Smollett’s case is currently being handled by a special counsel.

Lynn says he doesn’t interfere.

The trial is set for November 29th.
