Washington — The Justice Department has launched gun trafficking strike units in five cities in the United States. This is part of an effort to reduce the proliferation of violent crimes by dealing with illegal trafficking and prosecuting crimes that help bring guns into the hands of criminals.

Attorney General Merrick Garland will launch strike units in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington, DC on Thursday.

This effort includes strengthening enforcement in so-called supply areas, cities and states where it is usually easy to obtain guns for later trafficking in gun-controlled cities.

by Associated Press, The Task Force will “accept information sharing and prosecution.”

This was taken as the federal government embeds federal agents in murder units across the country and stepped up efforts to arrest people seeking federal warrants for violent crimes.

The creation of the Task Force begins with an increase in murder and shooting in cities across the country over the past two years. The Biden administration has primarily fought the rise in crime by trying to crack down on the illegal use of guns.

Biden earlier this year Signed an executive order It tried to crack down on “ghost guns” that lacked the proper serial numbers. The order also ordered the Department of Justice to take steps to ban devices such as stabilizing braces that could turn a pistol into a makeshift short-barreled rifle.
