Honolulu (KHON2) —Tuesday, William “Uncle Willy” Kosie, 56, reunited with a rescue team who saved his life when he went to Kalama Beach, Kailua on Father’s Day.

On Sunday, June 20, Kozier went kayaking and was found unresponsive at sea shortly after the kayak turned over. Bystanders took Kozier to the shore. Under the supervision of Dr. Honey Aipa, who was on the beach at the time, they immediately began CPR.

The 911 call arrived shortly after 12:30 pm, before Kozier was taken to the shore. Honolulu Ocean Safety arrived at the scene and gave pressure and shock. Honolulu Fire Department and Honolulu EMS are also supported.

Kozier regained consciousness 20 minutes after the first 911 call, and Honolulu EMS took him to Adventist Health Castle, where he underwent surgery. Kozier is now home with his wife.
