Lawrence, Kansas (AP) — A judge ruled that a Lawrence man accused of driving a car into a lake when his mother was a passenger could not stand on trial.
Earlier this week, a Douglas County judge ruled that 22-year-old Jeremy Williams should be treated at Learned State Hospital.
Williams has been charged with a second attempted murder. Prosecutors allege that Williams drove into Lake Lone Star on February 25.
The caller, who reported seeing a car enter the lake, rescued Williams’ mother. The mother was unable to escape because she had a broken leg. Williams’ proceedings remain pending while he is being treated.
