Wichita, Kansas (KSNW) – Mayor Brandon Whipple Nominates May 17 as Kansas Guard 184th Wing Thanksgiving Day in Wichita City.
Whipple read the proclamation during a city council meeting on Tuesday.
Over the decades, the wings have been deactivated and reactivated, with many changes in name, aircraft, and missions, including fighter-bombers, jet fighters, bombers, and tanker tankers.
In the current mission, 184th Wings provide intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. Battlefield command and control; and cyberspace operations for US and allied forces around the world.
Deputy General says 184 men and womenth It has contributed to Wichita’s financial well-being in response to the numerous disasters that struck Wichita and its surrounding areas.
