Kansas City, Missouri — With fewer enrollments, Kansas City public school leaders are seeking parental feedback on decisions about the district’s future.
The district has a plan called Blueprint 2030 Consider future suggestions for your district.
The number of registrations from the district has been declining since 2016.

As a result of the decline in enrollment, one suggestion is the closure and consolidation of school and district buildings.
A district spokesperson said no specific location had been determined, Dr. Mark Bedel said. Facebook Live presentation that KCPS has not reached a conclusion.
Manny Abarka, a board member of the KCPS School, said integration was not a bad thing and pointed out that the Woodland Early Learning Community School was a good achievement of the former school building.
“Opening the Welcome Center will accommodate all ELL (English Learner) services. This is a good example of reuse. It used to be an elementary school,” said Abarka.
Jason Roberts, President of the Kansas City Teachers and School Staff Federation, agrees with Abarka that the integration of the buildings may benefit.
“I think it’s a way to make it more efficient, provide better and more service to our students, and make the district truly competitive,” says Roberts.
However, union leaders added that they did not oppose the reduction in the number of buildings and did not want to run out of work.
“My biggest concern is power loss. I make sure that when we consolidate our schools, we really make sure we offer small classes,” Robert said.
KCPS held a meeting for parents and the community on Monday at Wendell Philips Elementary School to learn about Blueprint 2030. The district will hold a briefing session until October 22nd.
