KDHE reports 92 new COVID hospitalizations in Kansas, 170 active clusters across state – Wichita, Kansas

Wichita, Kansas (KSNW) — The number of coronavirus-positive Kansas has skyrocketed. Since Monday, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment has stated that 2,943 Kansas are positive for the virus, while 3,937 are negative. Of the new cases, 88 are the more contagious COVID-19 delta variants.

KDHE has also associated another 30 Kansas deaths to COVID-19, bringing the state to 6,673 deaths. In addition, 92 new COVID-19 hospitalizations have been reported since Monday. Unfortunately, the state is not tracking the recovery of the coronavirus.

Every Wednesday, the state also updates the number of active coronavirus clusters in Kansas. There are 170 active clusters this week, 18 more than last week. Of the active clusters, 53 are in schools from kindergarten to high school in Kansas. KDHE will only name locations that currently have 5 or more cases.

KDHE also updated the COVID-19 vaccination data on Wednesday. It has been administered more than 33,000 times in the last two days.

  • An additional 10,116 Kansas received the first dose of the vaccine
  • 3,951 people received a second dose
  • 19,264 people received the third dose

Of the Kansas states that are eligible for vaccination, 60.06% have been vaccinated at least once and 52.1% are considered fully vaccinated.
