KSLM Radio is a daily radio station in Salem. This family-owned station was recently taken over by four sisters in January. General Manager Jaci Smith, Office Manager and Traffic Director Katie Wilson, Sales Director Cynthia Ramirez, and On-Air Personality Amanda Smith.
However, the sisters worked behind the scenes at KSLM for years before taking over. There, they got some of their experience.
The focus and talked-about segments of KSLM have changed significantly over the last few years. According to Jaci, it was once a Christian radio station, but then began to switch to other religions. It then changed during Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
“We’ve changed the format to political news talk to show support for the Republican president,” Jaci said.
KSLM is currently primarily focused on being a conservative Talk Station. It also covers religion, family and lifestyle segments.
Although KSLM has a clear political position, we welcome you to be a guest on the radio and share your views and information about SMEs.
“No one says we couldn’t attend. To be honest, we focus on listening to different perspectives,” says Jaci.
Jaci believes that people often have the same goals, but said that there may be disagreements about how to reach those goals. As such, Jaci and her sisters are very open to other political positions and perspectives within the community.
As a small business, the sisters are now trying to get more involved in the community and focus on helping other small businesses.
“Events are really our current main focus and go out there. Now that COVID has declined a bit and people are holding events more often, we are really there. , I want to broadcast who we are by turning to the radio station, “Wilson said.
KSLM aims to move from place to place and rebrand in the near future. They are currently considering moving to downtown Salem, but no decision has been made yet.
“We have changed a lot about the station based on what the community wants, and we receive that feedback and continue to try to meet them where they are,” says Jaci. I did.
