On Monday, June 20th, Alex Marquand played the hero of Campesinos, with two downs and a base loaded at the bottom of the fifth.
Markand’s two-run single gave the camp a 4-2 lead, held seven make-ups from the rainout on May 13. It would have been the first match of the season for both teams.
Senator tied the game 2-2 in the upper half of the inning in a similar situation. Angeldy Armanzar loaded two outs and a base and singled to the right, taking Garrett Cuber and Edgar Vera home.
Armanzar’s two-out single, Kenneth Forchi Rio, was solid on the Campesinos mound, getting out of trouble early on with five innings and five innings.
In the second inning, Senator loaded the base with just one. However, Folch-Rio responded by first defeating Jeff Disla and then harmlessly flying Blayze Arcano.
For Campesino, who was heading for a few days of vacation, it was a much needed victory. The defending champion sits at the end of the game behind Mavericks.
