Singapore sees 7,752 new Covid-19 cases and 3 deaths

As of midday on Sunday (February 6), 7,752 new Covid-19 cases were registered in Singapore comprising 7,639 local and 113 imported infections taking the weekly infection growth rate to 1.49, up from Saturday’s 1.44.

There were three fatalities taking the death toll to 871, the Ministry of Health (MOH) reported in its daily update.

Of the new cases, almost 99 per cent (or 7,639) are local – comprising 1,518 cases confirmed through polymerase chain reaction tests (PCR) and 6,121 detected through antigen rapid tests (ART). The remaining are 113imported cases comprising of 99 cases confirmed through PCR and 14 cases detected through ART.

Under health protocols, persons who have tested positive for Covid-19 infection through ART test (Antigen Rapid Test) need to self-isolate at home for at least 72 hours and once they are well, they may exit the isolation period to restart their normal activities after they test negative on their self-administered ART.

A total of 4,732 cases were discharged, while 1,074 patients are hospitalized. Out of 1,074 hospitalized, 92patients require oxygen supplementation while 21 patients are in intensive care unit (ICU).

Over the last 28 days, out of 1,02,391 infected individuals, 99.7 per cent had no or mild symptoms, 0.3 per cent required oxygen supplementation, 0.04 per cent were in ICU and 0.02 per cent died.

As of Saturday, the total number of individuals of the eligible population who have completed their full regimen or received two doses of Covid-19 vaccines is 92 per cent under the national vaccination program.

Among the total population, 89 per cent have also received two doses of Covid-19 vaccines, while the rest 91 per cent have received at least one dose, and 60 per cent have received their booster shots. As of Sunday, Singapore has recorded 3,97,823 Covid-19 cases and 871 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
