The Kentucky Derby winner Medina Spirit Reportedly Died.

In an interview with Thoroughbred Daily NewsAmuru Zedan, the owner of Colt, said he died on a truck in Santa Anita Monday morning on suspicion of a heart attack.

The Los Angeles Times reported that a siren rang while the horse was exercising and a horse emergency van rushed to the truck.

In the controversy over the possibility of disqualification, Medina Spirit has been in the news several times since the Kentucky Derby.

After winning this year’s Derby, Colt faced the possibility of disqualification as he tested positive for the steroid betamethasone.

Trainer Bob Baffert said the ointment used to treat Colt due to skin conditions contained the substance.

Follow-up urinalysis of the Kentucky Derby winner Medina Spirit showed that the steroids present in the foal system were from a topical ointment rather than an injection.
