Kern County Cooling Center Program announces changes | News – Bakersfield, California

The Kern County Cooling Center Program will undergo changes starting Friday, July 23.

According to a news release from Kern County Aging and Adult Services, some changes have been made to make the program more effective. For example, the Saturday and Sunday Cooling Centers Daily Report will be released by 11:00 am on Friday. The Monday report will be released by 11:00 am on Sunday.

Another change is the opening of the Frazier Park Cooling Center when temperatures are expected to rise above 93 degrees Celsius.

The changes were made after consulting with stakeholders in the Kern County Cooling Center Program, the Aging and Adult Services Department, and Kern County General Services.

Cooling centers are open throughout Kern County from 1 pm to 8 pm, as predicted by the national weather forecast. The center is open from June 1st to September 22nd.
