Kern County Probation Department makes series of arrests last Friday | News – Bakersfield, California

The Kern County Probation Office made a series of probation calls and subsequent arrests at Metro Bakersfield on Friday, February 19.

According to a news release from the probation department, the alleged cases are:

• Police officers assigned to the Kern County Prosecutor’s Office’s High-Risk Criminal Unit conducted a parole investigation on 2900 blocks of Pioneer Drive, along with an ongoing gang investigation. While there, police officers contacted 26-year-old Marcos Gonzalez, who was on parole, through the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the news release said. During the search for the dwelling, the department allegedly found five guns, including two assault weapons, a pistol with a silencer, and a pistol suspected of being modified to fire at automatic speed. Police officers also allegedly found over 17 grams of suspicious cocaine and large amounts of marijuana. Gonzales was arrested for firearms, gangsters, and drug-related crimes.

• A police officer assigned to the Kern County Conservation Department’s post-release community oversight unit made a home call on 1000 blocks on Dolores Street. While in the dwelling, they contacted 40-year-old Angel Casillas, who was an active post-release community director, the news release said. During the investigation, police officers allegedly found about 48 grams of suspicious heroin. Casillas was arrested for drug-related crimes and PRCS violations, according to a news release.

• Officers made a home call on 700 blocks of Brundage Lane. While in the dwelling, they contacted the active post-release community director and 23-year-old Benjamin Wykaf, who was on felony probation, the news release said. During the search, police officers allegedly found 9mm and .40 caliber pistols and ammunition of various calibers many times. Wykaf was arrested for weapons-related crimes and his three active felony warrants for post-release community oversight and breach of probation.
