ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com)-A man biked cross-country to St. Louis and stopped by what he called “The Organ Trail” to visit a man who encouraged him to donate his kidneys.
From Madison, Wisconsin to Louisiana here in St. Louis, Mark Scotch is biking 1,500 miles to raise awareness of kidney donations.
“That’s what caused me,” Scotch said. “It’s kind of like we need to spread this a bit, when it turned into an Organ Trail.”
Today, St. Louis University Hospital welcomed a 64-year-old marathon cyclist when he marked 500 miles. He expects me to arrive in Louisiana on May 15th.
Scotch said a longtime friend of mine in Louisiana encouraged him to donate his kidneys. Scotch said he was shocked to find 13 people dying every day in the United States awaiting a kidney transplant.
