Overland Park, Kansas (KCTV)-Technologists and entrepreneurs are creating valuable tools for those looking for accessible vaccine information.
Anureet Hans, an MBA student at KU, came up with the idea for a website when her parents were looking for a COVID-19 vaccine provider.
“I realized it was a complicated process,” Hans said. “All these private pharmacies have begun to put out their own. It’s a bit complicated because people don’t know where the links are.”
The site lists private and public vaccine providers, up-to-date information on local supplies, and potential eligibility at the current state stage.
He said more than 20,000 people have visited the site since Tuesday.
Hans is not alone in recognizing the need for a centralized source of information.
Peter Carnesciali, a software developer in Kansas City, has begun to create a way to aggregate information about potential start-ups at private providers like Hy-Vee.
“”I wanted to be able to make a reservation as soon as possible. “
In the process, he realized that he could create a Twitter bot that would automatically publish information as soon as it became available. He created an account called KC Vaccine Watch.
“IIt’s very accessible, “Carnesciali said. “Many people have a Twitter account. If you want to know as soon as you have an appointment, you can.”
