La. House backs removing permit mandate for concealed carry – New Orleans, Louisiana

New Orleans, Louisiana 2021-05-06 11:20:00 –

The Louisiana House of Representatives resolved to abolish the need for permits to carry hidden pistols in the state and joined the Senate to support the idea. The Chamber of Commerce must agree on the final version of one of the two bills before it reaches the governor’s desk. Upon getting there, Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards showed that he would veto the action. But it does not delay the efforts promoted by Republicans. House lawmakers cast 73-28 votes on Wednesday for measures taken by Republican Rep. Brian Fontenot. Some Democrats joined the Republican Party in passing the bill.
