Las Vegas (FOX5)-People are being asked to help refugees from Afghanistan after the Taliban’s favor has saved many from life and death.
A group of former military interpreters and veterans are hosting a donation drive. On Fridays and Saturdays, the general public can unload the basic necessities of Afghan refugees. Items collected are laundry cloth, towels, underwear, pillows, toothpaste and soap.
Las Vegas non-profit organization, Freedom Support Alliance Formed by “HK”, who was born and raised in Afghanistan before he became an interpreter for US Special Forces.
“HK” helped relocate his parents, brothers and sisters to Las Vegas and take his wife and some others out of the country the day before the deadly attack on Kabul Airport. ..
“Everything they were trying to do, many of them gave the final shot for a better future, a safer future, the future of children and their families,” HK was killed in the attack. He talked about hundreds of Afghans. .. “I sometimes imagine there I know you.”
Today, his organization is trying to help the thousands of Afghan refugees who have achieved it.
A group of interpreters are ready to assist in processing documents for refugees and helping refugees integrate with their English classes and employment.
Some refugees are in Las Vegas, but most refugees stay at military bases while housing and paperwork are being organized. The collected donations will be sent to various locations.
