Las Vegas (FOX5)-Las Vegas police recently found 30 Boa Constrictor snakes in homes in the Southern Highlands area.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Larry Hudfield said the snake was found at a 5000-block home on Benny Zet Court near Shinnecock Hills Avenue and the Southern Highlands Parkway. According to Hudfield, the gangster was in the area following up on the incident he was working on when the animal was found.

“Animal Control responded and decided that possession of animals was not a crime,” Hadfield said in an email.

Clark County spokesman Dan Klin explained that the snake was in a proper cage and was not illegal. He also stated that boa constrictors are not specifically restricted under county law.

“For legally owned animals, the owner must provide clean water and food, a clean place or cage, and the animal must be stored in a suitable place. If trapped in a cage, Animals need to be trapped in a safe way, “Klin said.

Failure to provide animals with a safe and clean living space could lead to animal cruelty, Klin said.
